Job Description

Country Risk Lead

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a Country Risk Lead to cover the Andean, Central America and Caribbean regions, and support coverage of key regional countries, including Brazil, Mexico and the United States. This role involves assessing country ratings and outlooks based on economic, fiscal, monetary, external, banking, and political factors. You will risk manage the Firm's portfolio in the region across Lines of Businesses and participate in risk due diligence processes for various business activities.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the ratings and outlook of coverage countries based on comprehensive economic, fiscal, monetary, external, banking, and political analysis.
  • Risk manage the Firm's portfolio in the region across various Lines of Businesses.
  • Participate in risk due diligence processes related to diverse business activities.
  • Engage with Front Office and Risk partners in both English and Spanish, presenting Country Risk perspectives.
  • Contribute to franchise strategy and limits discussions, challenging business proposals and supporting strategic initiative expansions.
  • Represent Country Risk in industry events and JPMC internal conferences.
  • Organize regional due diligence trips and attend public and private sector entity meetings to gather analytical insights.
  • Participate in meetings with US regulators to present Country Risk perspectives on country ratings and portfolio, and external pressure assessments.
  • Provide sovereign rating downgrade input for regulatory stress tests.
  • Lead the Country Risk team's crisis preparedness project, enhancing frameworks for monitoring, response, and crisis management.
  • Collaborate with the Data Visualization team to integrate crisis preparedness frameworks into online dashboards.
  • Lead the US-China policy tracker project, reviewing potential new US government policy initiatives and their impact on the JPMC portfolio.
  • Conduct research in both English and Mandarin related to US-China policy and the JPMC portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Latin American Studies, International Studies, Economics, or related field plus 5 years of experience in country risk analysis and management, or a Bachelor's degree plus 7 years of experience.
  • 5 years of experience in country rating analysis and risk management for developed and emerging markets.
  • 5 years of experience with credit risk and market risk products and transactions (e.g., bonds, total return swaps, credit default swaps, fx forwards and options, sovereign liability management, acquisition financing).
  • 3 years of experience covering the Andean, Central America, and Caribbean regions for country rating analysis and risk management.
  • 2 years of experience presenting to U.S. regulators on risk management processes.
  • 2 years of experience with CCAR/regulatory stress tests.
  • 2 years of experience organizing due diligence trips and participating in meetings with private and public sectors in the Americas.
  • 2 years of experience in project management, including crisis preparedness framework and US-China policy monitoring.
  • 2 years of experience developing portfolio and deep-dive visualizations, and tracking key country macro and market indicators using Tableau and Python.
  • Oral, auditory, and written fluency in Mandarin and Spanish languages.

Travel Requirements

This position requires up to 3% domestic and 7% international travel.
