Overview of the Alternative Fund Controller, Vice President Role at JPMorganChase
As an Alternative Fund Controller within the Global Alternatives Investments Solutions team at JPMorganChase, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of private equity funds, which represent a significant portion of the firm's $35 billion in assets within the Private Equity Group. This position involves close collaboration with seasoned professionals, encompassing all facets of financial reporting, accounting, tax, internal controls, and the crucial oversight of service providers. You will be instrumental in managing core functional responsibilities and actively contributing to both tactical and strategic initiatives alongside senior leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the quarterly accounting process and oversee the fund administrator’s net asset value computation.
- Review trial balances, investor allocations, management fee calculations, and carried interest calculations.
- Review quarterly and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Reconcile portfolio holdings and trade activity, including capital calls, distributions, and return of capital.
- Coordinate the annual audit process efficiently and effectively.
- Assist in new product launches, providing financial expertise and support.
- Aid in the preparation of various regulatory filings, ensuring adherence to requirements.
- Participate in technology initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and reporting.
- Handle ad hoc requests and projects, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- A thorough understanding of private equity accounting, financial reporting, and fund administration principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities to navigate complex financial scenarios.
- A team player, highly motivated, self-starter with strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business and technical environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting (Form ADV, PF, AIFMD) is a plus.
- CPA/CFA designation is preferred.
