Overview: Surveyor - Nurse Pediatrics at Joint Commission
Joint Commission is conducting a nationwide search for a dedicated Surveyor - Nurse Pediatrics. This role is open to candidates located anywhere within the United States, focusing on Acute Care Registered Nurses with significant leadership experience in quality, accreditation, and/or regulations. Ideal candidates will have direct experience working in Pediatric hospitals, healthcare facilities, or Children's Specialized Services areas.
Key Responsibilities
The RN Field Representative will survey healthcare organizations across the United States, applying advanced systems analysis and inductive reasoning skills to assess their compliance with applicable standards and the functionality of their care delivery systems. This involves engaging healthcare organization staff in interactive dialogues on standards-based issues to identify compliance levels and opportunities for improvement. A critical part of the role is preparing comprehensive management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and associated organizational risks. You will be expected to communicate this vital information to healthcare organization leadership in a constructive and collegial manner. Additionally, you will participate in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing with a master’s degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Current professional nursing license maintained throughout employment.
- CPHQ certification required at hire or by 12/31/28.
- Five years of recent healthcare experience, including 3 years direct clinical experience in pediatric care settings.
- Three years of accreditation, certification leadership, or senior management experience.
- Contemporary knowledge of healthcare operations, clinical practice, performance improvement methods, and current healthcare trends.
- Direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, interpersonal, interviewing, teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
Work Arrangement & Travel
This position requires 100% nationwide travel. Both full-time and part-time options are available:
- Part-time (.48 FTE): Available 2 weeks per month.
- Part-time (.7 FTE): Available 3 weeks per month.
- Full-time (1.0 FTE): Available 4 weeks per month.
The next orientation class is scheduled for March 2026.
Physical Requirements
Candidates must be able to observe ongoing healthcare treatment without interruption, including emergency situations. This involves physical activities such as standing for long periods, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to inspect facilities, equipment, and procedures. Extensive travel includes driving to remote locations and flying, often in varied weather conditions.
Compensation and Benefits
