Overview

The Surveyor - Hospital Nurse role at Joint Commission involves an nationwide search for an Acute Care Registered Nurse with leadership experience in quality, accreditation, and regulations. The RN Field Representative evaluates healthcare organizations across the United States using systems analysis and inductive reasoning to assess compliance with standards and the functionality of care delivery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Survey healthcare organizations and assess compliance with Joint Commission standards.
  • Engage staff in interactive discussions on quality and accreditation.
  • Prepare management reports linking deficiencies with potential risks.
  • Communicate findings to healthcare leadership in a constructive manner.
  • Participate in additional Joint Commission activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Candidates must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing, hold a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, and have a current professional license. Certification as a CPHQ is required at hire or by 12/31/28. The candidate must possess five years of recent healthcare experience, including three years in direct clinical experience, and three years in accreditation, certification leadership or senior management. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards with direct survey involvement is essential.

Physical and Travel Requirements

This role includes extensive travel (100% nationwide), physical assessment requirements, and the ability to work in various healthcare settings under different weather and emergency conditions. It is available in full-time and part-time arrangements.

FTE Structure & Benefits

Full-time positions require 4 weeks of travel availability per month; part-time positions require 2 or 3 weeks. Comprehensive benefits are provided. Orientation begins in February 2026.

Salary

USD 115,000 per year.
