Overview
The Joint Commission is conducting a nationwide search for a Surveyor - Home and Hospice Care Registered Nurse. This remote opportunity is open to Registered Nurses located anywhere in the United States with extensive home health and hospice care experience.
The RN Field Representative surveys hospice and home care organizations throughout the United States, applying systems analysis and inductive reasoning skills to determine compliance with applicable standards and functionality of care delivery systems. The role involves engaging healthcare organization staff in interactive dialogues to assess compliance and identify improvement opportunities.
You will prepare management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points, communicating this information to leadership in a constructive and collegial style. Participation in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by your supervisor is also expected.

Requirements and Qualifications
Qualified candidates must be graduates of an approved school of nursing and hold a Master's degree in an appropriate discipline. A current professional license in nursing is required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment. CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through the National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) is required at hire or must be attained by 12/31/28.
Candidates need five years of recent healthcare experience, including three years of direct clinical experience in appropriate settings, and two years of accreditation or certification leadership or senior management experience. Knowledge of Joint Commission standards, with direct involvement in two Joint Commission surveys, is essential. Previous experience in Home Healthcare and Hospice care is required, specifically working in a Medicare Certified home health agency. Experience with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) is preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience in a culturally diverse work environment; fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Team players selected for these highly visible, challenging roles will possess strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, expertise in interviewing, and PC proficiency.
Physical Abilities
This role requires the ability to observe, in real-time and without interruption, all applicable types of ongoing healthcare treatment, including emergency situations. Physical demands include standing for long periods, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to inspect and observe medical facilities, equipment, and procedures. This includes walking up and down stairways, removing obstructed covers or impediments, and examining small printed labels.
Extensive travel is required, including driving to remote locations, flying on small airplanes into small airports, and traveling in all types of weather conditions.
Work Arrangement and Benefits
Candidates interested in part-time positions must be available to work two or three weeks per month and provide three or four weeks of availability for scheduling. All positions require 100% nationwide travel (paid).
