Overview
This MD Pathologist Surveyor role involves a nationwide search with the selected candidate located anywhere within the United States. Under general supervision of the Field Director, you will review assigned functions in Pathology and Clinical Laboratory Programs throughout the United States, providing evaluation services, education, and consultation, consistent with Joint Commission standards, policies, and protocols. You will determine the degree of compliance with applicable standards.
The role requires a thorough evaluation of assigned services to meet laboratory accreditation criteria. You will plan, review, and allocate review time so that all survey requirements are met. Responsibilities include reviewing pre-survey information, researching, collecting, organizing, and interpreting data from multiple sources, interviewing physicians and staff, and analyzing performance data and clinical practice guidelines to assess compliance with Joint Commission standards. You will document recommendations and non-compliance, submit complete review findings to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist Surveyor, interpret standards for organizational personnel, and consult with the organization regarding improvement actions and clarifications.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Conduct conferences and interviews with multiple stakeholders
- Analyze and synthesize survey findings
- Recommend resources for compliance improvement
Qualifications
Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy; Board Certified in Clinical and Anatomic Pathology; Must hold or attain CPHQ certification by 12/31/28.
Experience: Minimum five years clinical experience with at least two years in management (preferably laboratory), oversight in histopathology and cytology, and familiarity with CLIA'88 and performance measurement.
Analytical and Physical Skills
The role demands strong analytical skills to research, collect, organize, interpret, and communicate information effectively. It also requires the ability to physically inspect facilities, equipment, and procedures under various conditions, including extensive travel and working under challenging physical environments.
