What You Will Do as a Senior Application Engineer Presales Data Center HVAC
As an Sr. Applications Engineering professional, this role will be focused on preparing optimized selections and accurate technical proposals by working closely with product teams for “pre-sales” support for Data Center Airside equipment & Coolant Distribution Unit. You will drive the overall process for application specifications and ensure our sales team receives the best solution as per requirements.
- Provide pre-sales support on Data Center Airside equipment (CRAH, Fan wall units & CRAC) from reading specifications to preparing selections to providing final optimized quote.
- Pre-sales activities include, but are not limited to, system configuration validation, Airside equipment selection for bidding of new Data Center projects with application and pricing.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to develop and provide engineered equipment engineering submittals.
- Follow standardized submittal generation guidelines for preparation and processing of equipment engineering submittals for air side equipment to match schedule, drawing and specification requirements.
- Monitor engineering activity and overall project deliverables in terms of quality, cost, and time, taking responsibility for project deliverables.
- Interact with sales, providing systems applications advice, creative solutions to unique customer needs, and using competitor knowledge to create advantages.
- As a technical executive, work closely with product teams for executing technical specifications reviews & optimization strategies for air side products by utilizing market research, trends, technical expertise, competitor’s positioning, and how to compete against similar products from competition.
- You will work closely on optimization strategies proposed by product teams, identify gaps and opportunities, and competitor data to develop more competitive technical proposals.
How You Will Do It
As a Data Center Airside equipment technical executive, you will use your in-depth technical expertise to prepare the best optimized offering for Airside equipment.
- Respond to field sales project inquiries in connection with product specifications.
- Identify and propose solutions necessary to meet customer requirements and work with product teams to develop new special quotation offerings as per requirements.
- Work on special options requirements and support SQ (Special Quote) needs by getting cost and lead time estimates by working closely with product teams.
- Guide pre-sales team on system design approaches and enhance competitive advantage by specifying tailored equipment packages.
- Prepare/develop compliance statements against project specifications.
- As a subject matter expert in Data Center Airside equipment products, you will use your significant knowledge to develop optimized bids.
- You are a strong Airside equipment application engineer and communicator with a positive attitude combined with sound technical and business judgement able to be self-directed and operate under general guidance.
- Strict adherence to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
What We Look For
- BE/ME Mechanical or equivalent.
- Demonstrated high level of knowledge of HVAC Equipment like CRAC, CRAH, fan wall units, & CDU.
- A solid understanding on the principles of Enterprise, Colocation, Cloud, Managed services and Hyperscale Data center associated equipment is required.
- Preference will be given to individuals with a Mechanical Engineering Degree and/or previous applications engineering experience within Data Center Airside Equipment.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in HVAC Airside (CRAC, CRAH, Fan wall units & CDU) equipment product selection process, preparing design specifications and quotations.
- Ability to perform successfully in a multifunctional team-work environment and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be a quick learner & should have a keen eye for problem solving.
- Proficient in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to demonstrate good leadership skills.
- People management experience would be an added advantage.
