Role Overview

We are expanding and seeking 3 additional Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to support our Immunology portfolio. This is a field-based role, and the territory will cover 1/3 of Poland, depending on the candidate's place of residence. The MSL will be responsible for engaging with key stakeholders and driving scientific exchange within their assigned region.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a therapeutic area (TA) scientific expert, responsible for discussing our products, patients’ treatment trends, and studies in TAs in which we are involved, on a peer-to-peer basis with Leading Specialists (LS). The MSL is considered a trusted scientific counterpart and partner, serving as the scientific face of Johnson & Johnson Poland. Through scientific interactions, the MSL champions the medical value of our products fairly based on their risk-benefit profile and contributes to fostering innovative therapeutic approaches to benefit patients. Activities are in line with the Medical Affairs Plan, and the MSL is jointly responsible for achieving short-term and long-term company goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Medical and Scientific Knowledge Development
  • Continuously update knowledge of products, patient treatment trends, clinical activities, and studies within the TA and patient treatment trends in the region.
  • Identify evolving scientific concepts with future clinical implications.
Development and Maintenance of a Contact Network with Local Leading Specialists (LS)
  • Conduct LS interactions during F2F meetings, congresses/scientific meetings, and Medical Education events.
  • Understand LS needs, key value drivers, practical treatment patterns, and scientific activities within the therapeutic area.
  • Develop and execute an external stakeholder management plan in close collaboration with Medical Affairs Field (MAF), Health Economics, Market Access & Reimbursement (HEMAR), and Commercial teams.
  • Communicate the value of company products, contributing to market access activities and formulary discussions.
  • Through scientific interactions, champion the medical value of our products based on their risk-benefit profile and foster innovative approaches.
  • Collect medical insights, including scientific and treatment trends, and provide feedback for strategic TA and Medical teams.
  • Recognize and nurture relationships with emerging scientific talent.
Proactive and Reactive Communication of Medical Scientific Data to LSs
  • Communicate scientific information on our products directly and proactively within the approved label.
  • Communicate non-promotional general information about the company, including pipeline, R&D programs, and other relevant information.
  • Respond to unsolicited scientific queries from customers for approved products and products/indications in development, using Medical Affairs and Medical Information documents.
  • Utilize digital technologies and new media to support communication efforts.
Organization and Participation in Local Medical Education Activities
  • Execute tactical MAF Plan activities.
  • Identify, support, educate, and brief speakers.
  • Build local Medical Education programs with scientific third parties.
Provision of Scientific Support to Company Commercial Department
  • Provide medical and product training and scientific support to field-based staff in coordination with the Sales Manager and Cross-Functional Value Team (CVT) as appropriate.
  • Act as a reference point for field-based staff for any scientific query.
Support and Manage Medical Affairs Clinical Activities
  • Collaborate closely with Global Clinical Operations (GCO) on strategy, planning, design, and execution of Medical Affairs clinical activities.
  • Support follow-up on registries and other non-interventional Medical Affairs studies.
  • Understand Real World Evidence (RWE) methodologies, identify data needs and opportunities, support protocol development, and engage in discussions with customers to help design RWE projects.
  • Propose investigators and sites for interventional and non-interventional Medical Affairs studies.
  • Support GCO in site set-up, management, and issue resolution.
  • Manage investigator-initiated study (IIS) proposals and ensure they are discussed within the Medical Affairs department for decision-making.
  • Support post-marketing surveillance programs and New Patient Programs (NPPs).
  • Manage field-based medical projects.
Training & Individual Development
  • Identify and address training needs among field-based staff.
  • Deliver training to field staff in respective TAs according to company policies.

Requirements

Educational Background and Pharmaceutical Industry Expertise/Experience
  • Medical Doctor, Pharmaceutical, or Natural Science university degree is required. A Medical Doctor degree is a significant advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Pharmaceutical Industry.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (local language Polish and English).
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects effectively.
  • Excellent presentation and influencing skills.
  • Actively seeks and embraces innovative ideas and solutions.
  • Proactive personality capable of engaging Leading Specialists (LSs) in a peer-to-peer format.
  • Skill and passion to analyze/interpret scientific data and publications.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, business writing, presenting, and listening).
  • High ethical standards in business.
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation.
  • Pro-active and goal-oriented thinking.
  • The role is field-based, involving extensive local Leading Specialist interactions.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base pay range for this position is 221,000 PLN to 299,000 PLN.

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits: an annual bonus with a set target (13% of pay) depending on pay grade/location, where the actual amount is based on employee and company performance. Moreover, we offer vacation days, parental leave for a minimum of 12 weeks, bereavement leave, caregiver leave, volunteer leave, well-being reimbursement, and programs for financial, physical, and mental health.
