Overview

Be at the cutting edge of transforming national security analysis with artificial intelligence! Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a visionary National Security AI Analyst to spearhead the integration of AI capabilities, including revolutionary large language models, across multi-disciplinary national security challenges.

Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Drive innovation in AI applications in national security.
  • Collaborate with experts in AI, operations research, and national security.
  • Develop and refine AI-enabled tools influencing policy decisions.
  • Stay at the forefront of AI advancements for strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your duties, you will:

  • Assist in developing NSAD’s proficiency with large language models.
  • Apply AI capabilities to NSAD analyses for tactical and operational use.
  • Support AI integration across APL to complement existing capabilities.
  • Innovate ideas to expand NSAD’s application of generative AI.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships across NSAD and the Laboratory.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or related field.
  • Relevant experience with generative artificial intelligence applications.
  • Proficiency in data pre-processing and handling imbalanced datasets.
  • Experience in programming languages like Python and libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel within the Washington DC/Baltimore metro area and beyond.
  • Eligibility to obtain Interim Secret to TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field.
  • Experience fine tuning pre-trained language models and conducting model evaluations.
  • Strong understanding of machine learning architectures including transformer models.
  • Expertise in NLP tasks such as classification, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis, and text generation.
