Assistant Superintendent Construction
John Moriarty & Associates is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support the planning, coordination, and execution of day-to-day field operations for construction projects. This role is crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of projects by assisting in the oversight of self-performed and subcontracted work, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring quality workmanship. The Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in coordinating site activities, resolving field issues, and fostering a collaborative and productive jobsite environment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide as-builts and field reports verifying site conditions comply with contract documents and project specifications.
- Manage and schedule MEP testing (duct and pipe) and maintain documentation.
- Develop and track deficiency and corrective action logs from JMA, design team, and/or 3rd party consultants field reports, distributing them weekly for review and to subcontractor PMs.
- Manage and consult field engineers to ensure line, grade, and layout are accurate and on schedule.
- Provide support to Project Superintendents managing site logistics and subcontractors, including deliveries, additional layout, clarification of details, coordination between trades, and monthly BTD permit renewals.
- Support the Safety Officer in ensuring safe work practices, including establishing controlled access zones, enforcing PPE compliance, and managing hot work documentation.
- Organize and maintain daily SWPPP reports, notifying the Project Super of any deficiencies.
Qualifications:
- 0-5 years of experience in the construction industry as a superintendent or in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- High proficiency using survey equipment, providing layout, and supervising field engineers.
- Proficient in Bluebeam for document markup, Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), and the Autodesk Forma platform.
- Strong document literacy, including the ability to reference architectural details, cross-reference document sets, access technical details in shop drawings, and reference project specifications.
- CSL License.
- NFPA Hot Work Certification.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
