Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically and carries passengers quietly over congested city streets. Since 2009, Joby Aviation has been working towards certifying its innovative aircraft, scaling manufacturing, and launching its initial commercial service. As a Senior Technical Writer, you will join a fast scaling Technical Publications team dedicated to ensuring the quality, clarity, and accuracy of documentation for aircraft-related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Execute multiple review processes for certification documents.
  • Assist subject matter experts in writing and refining content.
  • Provide editorial support and authoring tools expertise.
  • Update, enhance, and reorganize existing documentation.
  • Help define and improve documentation standards and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communication, or equivalent discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience as demonstrated by a portfolio.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information from busy SMEs.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience as a technical editor or peer editor.
  • Familiarity with diagramming tools (draw.io, Visio, LucidChart).
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace or pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience writing long-form technical documents.
  • Knowledge of the aerospace industry and process codification.
  • Experience with GitHub and Python is a plus.
