Overview

Jobs via Dice is recruiting a Video Engineer for Saksoft. This role is 100% remote and focuses on supporting live video operations across on-premises and cloud environments.

Role Responsibilities

As the Live Video Engineer, you will support end-to-end live video infrastructure covering signal acquisition, transcoding, packaging, encryption, server side ad insertion (SSAI), monetization, and content delivery. You will implement observability practices to ensure system reliability and performance, evaluate vendors, and drive cost optimization initiatives.

Your Day Today

  • Operations Support: Monitor live video infrastructure and troubleshoot streaming issues.
  • Event Management: Set up and monitor data during big tentpole events, including off-hours.
  • Infrastructure Management: Optimize both on-premises and cloud-based workflows.
  • Observability: Implement monitoring, logging, and metric analysis systems.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyze operational costs and drive saving initiatives.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field and at least 3 years of experience in live video technology, managing complex video workflows from acquisition to delivery. Candidates should have expertise in video codecs (AVC, HEVC), protocols (RTMP, RTP, SRT, etc.), SSAI, video encryption, and hands-on experience with cloud services (AWS, OCI, Google Cloud). Familiarity with Python, Rust, and scripting, as well as tools like GitHub, Docker, Terraform, and Kubernetes is highly valued.

Additional Skills

Experience with observability platforms (New Relic, Cloud ELK), Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence), and knowledge of video standards including HDR/SDR and dynamic ad signaling are a plus.
