Job Description
Technical Documentation & Program Support Specialist at GovCIO
GovCIO is seeking a detail-oriented Technical Documentation & Program Support Specialist to support multiple enterprise technology initiatives. This fully remote position within the United States involves developing, maintaining, testing, and organizing technical and business documentation while collaborating with clients, developers, and stakeholders in an Agile environment.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working across technical and business teams, and experienced with documentation standards, testing, accessibility compliance, and Agile project support.
Responsibilities
Technical Documentation
- Develop, proof, review, and update technical documentation for Microsoft Power Platform applications including:
- User Guides
- Development Guides
- Maintenance Guides
- Training materials
- Collaborate with clients to translate information into preferred documentation formats and standards.
- Work with development teams to gather, validate, and accurately document technical information.
- Maintain and update the BITS Technical Handbook and associated documentation by:
- Removing outdated or unnecessary content
- Adding new and revised information
- Creating and maintaining links to related documentation
- Proof and update developer documentation, including:
- Workflow documentation
- Data mappings
Program Support
- Review and update business rules documentation in coordination with clients and developers.
- Test applications and document findings, feedback, and recommendations.
- Organize, update, archive, and maintain all documentation within SharePoint.
- Schedule, attend, record, and document stakeholder meetings as needed.
- Assist with proofing presentations and documentation prior to client review.
- Facilitate or run daily Scrum meetings as needed and update Jira boards accordingly.
- Coordinate meetings and update business requirements and rules for dashboards/reports built and maintained by client.
- Gather stakeholder questions and responses and incorporate updates into business requirements documentation.
- Conduct Section 508 accessibility testing on DAPM Analytics Hub reports.
- Partner with Power BI developers to remediate accessibility issues as needed.
- Update employee rosters quarterly to ensure accurate contact, location, and project data.
- Support Power BI developers by maintaining and updating performance metrics gap analyses in coordination with SMEs.
- Create and maintain an inventory of SSIS packages in collaboration with database and ETL developers.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's with 0 - 2 years (or commensurate experience)
- Experience creating and maintaining technical and business documentation
- Strong proofreading, editing, and organizational skills
- Familiarity working with Agile/Scrum teams
- Familiarity with Jira and SharePoint
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, developers, and stakeholders
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience testing applications and documenting results
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Preferred Skills And Experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power BI)
- Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and testing
- Experience documenting business rules, workflows, and data mappings
- Familiarity with SQL, SSIS, or ETL concepts (documentation-level understanding)
- Prior experience supporting federal, state, or enterprise IT programs
