About the role

Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer on behalf of our client in the United States. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and support of enterprise Microsoft 365 environments, including hybrid identity infrastructure and cloud collaboration services. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Microsoft 365 security, identity management, automation, and endpoint management, along with strong scripting and troubleshooting skills in large-scale enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, and Microsoft 365 Apps.
  • Manage hybrid identity environments using Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Connect, and ADFS.
  • Implement and maintain Conditional Access policies, MFA, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and identity protection controls.
  • Support Exchange Online mail flow, hybrid configurations, routing, and related messaging services.
  • Manage endpoint security and device compliance using Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender solutions.
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Python, or C# for reporting, monitoring, and operational tasks.
  • Manage application registrations, service principals, certificates, secrets, and transition applications from Basic Authentication to Modern Authentication.
  • Troubleshoot complex identity, authentication, and hybrid integration issues across Microsoft 365 services.
  • Support PKI, certificate-based authentication, and infrastructure dependencies such as DNS and DHCP in hybrid environments.
  • Build and maintain automation workflows using Azure Automation, Logic Apps, Power Automate, and Azure Functions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT and security teams to support operational stability and project initiatives.
  • Develop technical documentation and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration (Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID).
  • Experience with hybrid identity technologies including Active Directory, Entra Connect, ADFS, MFA, and Conditional Access.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 security capabilities, including Microsoft Defender suite and identity protection.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell and Microsoft Graph scripting for automation and reporting.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Experience with Modern Authentication, OAuth, and application registrations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in enterprise hybrid Microsoft environments.
  • Knowledge of certificate-based authentication and PKI concepts.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher clearance.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum and DevOps environments.
  • Experience with ServiceNow (SNOW) change management processes.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments with 10,000+ users.
  • Experience with Azure services including Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Automation, Key Vault, and Managed Identity.
  • Experience building Power Automate flows, Power BI dashboards, and SharePoint Online solutions.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks such as NARA or Capstone.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 collaboration tools such as Teams, Forms, Lists, and Power Platform.
