Senior Data Governance Specialist at Apetan Consulting
Apetan Consulting is seeking a Senior Data Governance Specialist to lead and mature its enterprise data governance framework. This 100% remote role focuses on ensuring data trustworthiness, compliance, security, and alignment with business strategy across the organization.
Role Summary
As a Senior Data Governance Specialist, you will drive the establishment and maturation of Apetan Consulting's enterprise data governance framework. You will be responsible for ensuring that all organizational data is trustworthy, compliant, secure, and strategically aligned. This role requires cross-pillar leadership, covering metadata, data lineage, data quality, access governance, policy development, Master Data Management (MDM), regulatory compliance, and change management initiatives. You will collaborate closely with senior business partners, technical teams, Legal/Security departments, and audit stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Establish and mature the enterprise data governance framework.
- Ensure data trustworthiness, compliance, security, and alignment to business strategy.
- Provide cross-pillar leadership in metadata, lineage, data quality, access governance, policies, MDM, compliance, and change management.
- Collaborate with senior business partners, technical teams, Legal/Security, and audit stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, MIS, or a related field.
- 7-10+ years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, analytics engineering, or data quality.
- Deep expertise in metadata, master data, data quality, lineage, and regulatory compliance.
- Hands-on experience with Atlan and Monte Carlo or comparable data governance/observability platforms is strongly preferred.
- Strong SQL and Business Intelligence (BI) background, including experience integrating catalog/observability data into dashboards.
- Proven stakeholder leadership and the ability to influence senior leaders across business, engineering, Legal, Security, and Compliance.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex data concepts for diverse audiences.
