Overview
The IT Documentation Specialist will produce, revise, and manage comprehensive documentation across IT infrastructure domains including cloud platforms, networking, data center operations, and system architecture. Working closely with engineers, system administrators, and technical teams, this role ensures all documentation meets compliance requirements, cybersecurity guidelines, and operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and update documentation for cloud, network, and data center systems.
- Produce technical assets such as user manuals, SOPs, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
- Create FAQs, training modules, and knowledge-base articles.
- Design diagrams using tools like Visio, Lucidchart, and draw.io.
- Document system configurations, architecture designs, and best practices.
- Collaborate with SMEs to convert complex information into clear content.
- Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and brand standards.
- Manage version control using platforms like ServiceNow, Confluence, and SharePoint.
- Work with DevOps, cloud engineering, networking, and cybersecurity teams.
- Review feedback to determine documentation updates.
- Edit, proofread, and conduct peer reviews for consistency.
- Apply RAG/AI-aligned practices to enhance searchability.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity documentation.
Qualifications
- Strong technical writing skills with ability to simplify complex IT topics.
- Understanding cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), networking, and system administration.
- Proficient with documentation platforms such as Confluence, Teams, SharePoint, and more.
- Familiar with Git, ITIL, DevOps, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years' experience.
- Exceptional attention to detail and capacity to handle multiple tasks.
- Experience with version control and documentation workflow processes.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA. The role is fully remote.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range is $43.00 - $45.00/hr with applicable benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement plans, life insurance and more.
