Job Overview
The Information Architect will lead the design of the website's information architecture for a county digital transformation project in Austin, TX. The role involves creating intuitive navigation, accessibility, and taxonomy design to support diverse citizen needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of the website's information architecture for optimal usability.
- Conduct content audits and map legacy content into new structures.
- Develop a taxonomy and service categorization model reflecting county departments and citizen needs.
- Collaborate with content strategists, UX designers, and county stakeholders.
- Define metadata schemas and tagging strategies to enhance search and discoverability.
- Create wireframes, service directories, and navigation models as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility (WCAG 2.2 AA) and usability best practices.
- Document governance recommendations for ongoing taxonomy maintenance.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Information Architect, Content Strategist, or similar role.
- Expertise in taxonomy design, metadata, classification systems, and content modeling.
- Experience with content audits and legacy content mapping.
- Familiarity with usability principles, accessibility standards, and citizen-centric design.
- Strong collaboration, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
