Overall Role
The IMO Lead oversees the integration of companies during mergers, acquisitions, or divestitures. In this role, the individual ensures that the combined organization achieves strategic, operational, and financial objectives while acting as the central coordinator for cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities / Activities
A. Planning and Governance
Develop and maintain integration plans including timelines, milestones, and dependencies. Establish integration governance structures with steering committees, workstream owners, and reporting frameworks. Define KPIs and success metrics, and ensure alignment with corporate strategy and leadership priorities.
B. Cross-Functional Coordination
Act as the central point of contact for all functional leaders such as finance, HR, IT, sales, and operations. Facilitate regular integration status meetings and steering committee updates while monitoring interdependencies to avoid bottlenecks.
C. Communication & Change Management
Develop internal and external communication plans for integration progress. Support change management initiatives and ensure consistent messaging from leadership throughout the organization.
D. Risk and Issue Management
Identify integration risks early; implement mitigation strategies and escalate critical issues to senior leadership. Track action items and resolution statuses across workstreams.
E. Financial and Operational Tracking
Track integration-related costs and synergies to ensure ROI realization. Maintain dashboards and reporting tools, and support finance in transaction-related adjustments.
F. Post-Integration Activities
Oversee post-merger audits and measure the achievement of integration goals. Capture lessons learned for future M&A processes and ensure a smooth handoff to business-as-usual operations.
