Job Description
Job Summary
As a Data Analyst at Feuji Inc, you will provide critical data analysis and data discovery support to the Focus Data Team. This role involves close collaboration with data modelers, engineers, and business stakeholders, with a primary focus on upfront analysis of source systems, defining data concepts and relationships, and owning source-to-target mapping and baseline documentation. Your contributions will enable high-quality, scalable data modeling and robust downstream data products.
This is a non-engineering focused role, emphasizing clarity, comprehensive documentation, stakeholder alignment, and readiness for development.
Key Responsibilities
- Upfront Analysis: Conduct thorough upfront analysis of source system datasets, structures, and business concepts. Work with Data Modelers and Business Stakeholders to define how source data is curated into the One Focus Data Model.
- Perform initial research and discovery, clearly articulating core data concepts, entity relationships, critical attributes and their data structure, assumptions, questions, and risks. Address similarities and differences in like-source systems with varying underlying data models or architectures.
- Produce and maintain clear, structured documentation of findings, relationships, open questions, and concerns related to in-scope data sets.
- Partner with Data Modelers to validate, refine, and affirm data relationships and conceptual alignment before development begins.
- Support ad hoc research and analysis for in-scope datasets as needed after initial discovery (e.g., resolving data anomalies, addressing blockers, or supporting new use cases).
- Source to Target Mapping (STTM) + Business Documentation: Own the creation and maintenance of Source to Target Mapping (STTM) and all supporting baseline documentation.
- This includes standard source-to-target mappings, documented transformation and derivation logic (not implemented code), null handling expectations and edge cases, initial identification of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), and entity-level and attribute-level descriptions aligned to the curated model.
- Act as the single point of accountability for ensuring documentation quality, completeness, and on-time delivery in advance of development.
Explicit Non-Ownership
This role does not involve:
- Sprint planning or delivery estimation.
- Engineering or development tasks, including data extraction or ingestion, table creation, transformation logic implementation (code portion), or pipeline development and orchestration.
