Cybersecurity Engineer Intern at Leidos

The Cybersecurity Architecture Engineering Program at Leidos is looking for the right candidate to participate as a summer intern. You will be introduced to different engineering domains, including Cybersecurity Domain Engineering, Cybersecurity Application Engineering, Cybersecurity Workflow Engineering, and Cybersecurity Systems Engineering.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead a start-to-finish project, culminating in a presentation as part of the internship.
- Work under the supervision and direction of senior members of the Cybersecurity Architecture Engineering Program.
- Enhance, document, and moderate security processes, collaborating with highly experienced Security Architects and Engineers to ensure comprehensive and repeatable reviews.
- Learn from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) who possess deep domain knowledge in areas such as Endpoint, Network, Application, Mobile, and Cloud security, to gauge interest and career growth opportunities.
- Support the overall CAE team's mission by tracking project statuses, organizing meetings with stakeholders, providing input into process enhancements, and performing other duties as assigned.
- Interface with cross-functional teams to participate in security projects and initiatives.
Basic Qualifications
- Actively pursuing a bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related degree.
- Must have completed at least three years of an undergraduate curriculum and maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Basic understanding of computer networks, systems, and how to identify vulnerabilities.
- Possess strong organizational skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
- Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills through on-the-job training and self-directed learning, including researching.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to write and verbally communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A self-starter who eagerly participates in architect-level design discussions, can drive consensus in group conversations, cultivate strategic relationships, and uses grit to achieve results.
- Must have strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and demonstrate poise in communicating with non-technical audiences.
- Fundamental understanding of networking, infrastructure, software development, and application technologies.
- Understanding of basic cyber threats and popular attack vectors such as phishing, ransomware, and social engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of NIST frameworks.
- Any Professional Certifications.
- Experience with application security frameworks.
- Demonstrated leadership or cyber skills gained from student clubs, community involvement, or work experience.
- Experience with popular cloud hosting environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Basic understanding of remote access, OSI model, and TCP/IP networking principles and protocols.
- Basic knowledge of Linux or MAC operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of mobile operating systems like iOS and Android.
- Experience with scripting tools and programming languages; Python, Javascript, C, Go, Rust.
- Knowledge of and interest in data science, machine learning and/or security automation.
