About the Cyber Defense Analyst Intern Role

Do you want to learn more about Cyber Security in an exciting, fast paced and friendly environment? The CSIRT is looking for the right candidate to participate as a summer Intern and be introduced to Incident Response. Experience includes discovering and detecting security alerts/events, assessing and prioritizing incident response, working with system owners on security alerts, building reports and dashboards, and learning various cybersecurity applications and tools.

Primary Responsibilities

This role involves leading a start-to-finish project with a final presentation, working under the direction of senior CSIRT members, and participating in the assessment of security alerts identified in the environment.

• Assist in designing and implementing dashboards and data visualizations.
• Identify, design, and drive automation projects for vulnerability management.
• Monitor threat intelligence feeds and create new detections.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on security projects and initiatives.

Basic Qualifications

Applicants must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA and at least three years of an undergraduate curriculum. A basic understanding of computer networks and systems, strong organizational skills, teamwork, and the ability to quickly learn on the job are required. This is a teleworking (remote) position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cybersecurity tools.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and NIST frameworks.
• Any professional certifications or programming knowledge.
• Experience with cloud computing environments, vulnerability management, and application security frameworks.
