Lockheed Martin is seeking a motivated Aerospace Engineer Intern to join the Program Office in Sunnyvale, CA. In this role, you will support the Space Development Agency's Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture programs.
Role Responsibilities
We are looking for a self-starter to support our Infrared Payload (IRPL) Integrated Product Team (IPT). You will work closely with Lockheed Martin engineers and key supplier technical teams to develop a preliminary design for a technically advanced optical payload. Your responsibilities will include:
- Tracking and reporting on risk mitigation activities.
- Participating in design trade activities.
- Evaluating payload supplier designs.
- Contributing to ICD (Interface Control Document) and requirement maturation.
This position is available at our Sunnyvale, California location.
Basic Qualifications
- Currently a Junior/Senior standing, pursuing a degree in Aerospace, Optical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, or Google Workspace.
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to ask questions and learn new tools quickly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance - U.S. Citizenship required.

- Experience with MATLAB.
- Experience with 3D modeling and/or structural/dynamic analysis.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle constructive feedback professionally.
- Current or existing Interim or Secret Clearance.
