Job Overview

Self Financial, Inc. is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team responsible for building trusted, scalable, and well-governed data systems. This role requires modernizing data pipelines, improving data quality, observability, and optimizing data transformations to support product growth and strategic decision-making.

Accountabilities

  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of data engineers with clear goals and development plans.
  • Modernize ETL/ELT pipelines and standardize orchestration while retiring legacy systems.
  • Design and maintain robust data models ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  • Implement data quality monitoring, anomaly detection, and observability practices.
  • Establish data lineage, cataloging, governance, and compliance measures.
  • Optimize cost and performance for data workloads, storage, and queries.
  • Partner with various teams to translate business needs into a clear data roadmap.
  • Track and report on team OKRs and key metrics including pipeline success rate and stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications

Required experience includes 6+ years in data engineering or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential, along with hands-on experience in ETL/ELT pipeline design, orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow), and cloud data warehouses (Redshift, BigQuery, or Snowflake). Candidates must have a strong grasp of data modeling, quality, observability, incident management, and stakeholder communication. Familiarity with data security, privacy, and governance best practices is required.

Compensation & Benefits

The role offers a competitive base salary ranging from $159,000 to $212,000 annually, company equity through stock options, performance-based bonuses, and comprehensive benefits including employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance.
