About the role
About the role
The Interface Developer Intern will support our technical team in building the digital frameworks used for our advisory work. This position exists to ensure that our internal tools reflect the precision and clarity of our written analysis. You will work on the systems that allow our advisors to draft, review, and archive complex memoranda.
This is a full time, permanent position. Like all roles at our firm, it is conducted entirely in a remote environment. You will focus on creating distraction free interfaces that prioritize the reading experience and the logical structure of information.
About JHC Consulting
JHC Consulting is a private advisory practice. We provide counsel to chief executives, chairs, and board committees on consequential decisions. The firm specializes in written analysis designed to remain on file and be referred to long after a meeting concludes. We do not deliver polished presentations or facilitate endless consensus sessions. Instead, we produce memoranda that are authored, signed, and owned by a single individual. This approach rests on the belief that a well reasoned, seven page document is more valuable than a forty page slide deck that only surrounds a question. Our work is precise and demanding, favoring clarity over volume and evidence over assumption. All engagements are grounded in the discipline of absolute discretion and analytical honesty.
What you will do
- Translate written document requirements into functional, responsive web interfaces.
- Build and maintain clean, accessible front end components using vanilla JavaScript and CSS.
- Assist in the technical production of digital memoranda to ensure visual consistency.
- Monitor and troubleshoot the stability of our internal platforms across various browsers.
- Collaborate with advisors to refine how analytical content is displayed for clients.
- Document technical processes with the same precision and clarity we apply to our memos.
What we are looking for
- Fundamental proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
- A clear and disciplined approach to technical problem solving.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding typography and layout.
- The ability to work independently and manage time in a remote setting.
- A professional temperament suited for deep, focused technical work.
- Respect for the confidentiality and discretion required in a private advisory practice.
Helpful background
We welcome applicants currently studying or recently graduated from programs in computer science or web design. We also see value in those with a background in law, philosophy, or history. These disciplines often indicate a respect for logical structure and evidence based arguments. Any experience with digital publishing or minimalist design will be considered an advantage. We are more interested in your ability to think clearly and write well than in any specific list of tools or frameworks you have used in the past.
Working at JHC Consulting
Our environment is designed for quiet focus and deep work. We do not use lengthy video calls or constant messaging to manage our daily tasks. Instead, we rely on the written record to keep projects moving. This allows our team members to manage their own schedules within a fully remote framework. A high degree of personal responsibility is required to succeed here. We prefer small, effective teams where individual ownership is the norm. You will have the space to perfect your work without the distractions common in typical technical environments.
What we offer
- Fully remote work with flexible scheduling across all time zones.
- Direct mentorship from experienced technical and advisory leads.
- A stable, professional environment that values quality over volume.
- Access to challenging work that supports high level executive decisions.
- A culture that respects individual autonomy and long term concentration.
Our firm remains committed to the written record. We believe that analytical honesty is the only foundation for sound decisions. By joining us, you help provide that foundation. We ensure our counsel remains stable and useful for the organizations we serve long after our work is done.
