Job Description

Volunteer Video Editor at L'Esprit Lycéen

L'Esprit Lycéen is seeking passionate video editors for a volunteer opportunity to transform interviews and field reports into engaging visual experiences for youth. Your work will help inform and entertain young people on topics like climate, education, culture, and politics, contributing to civic awareness and freedom of expression.

Your Role and Superpowers

As a key member of our editorial team, you will be responsible for the visual storytelling of our content:

  • Storytelling: Structure narratives to keep viewers engaged from start to finish.
  • Dynamism: Pace sequences, select appropriate music, and add graphic elements for impact.
  • Innovation: Create snackable content formats (Reels, TikTok) that capture attention.
  • Creative Freedom: Experiment with new visual styles and formats; your ideas are welcome!

Why Join Us?

This is more than just editing clips; it's joining a creative lab where your work has a real impact. Here are four reasons to choose L'Esprit Lycéen:

  • Total Creative Freedom: We encourage creators to experiment with transitions, titling, and new formats. It's an ideal place to try things you couldn't elsewhere.
  • Build Your Portfolio (and CV): Work on diverse projects including interviews with personalities, societal reports, and news formats to create a strong, varied portfolio for future opportunities.
  • Drive a Civic Cause: Use your skills to inform young people about crucial messages on ecology, engagement, and the future. Your editing can inspire other students.
  • Join a Like-Minded Team: Become part of a passionate, supportive, and connected editorial team. Learn from each other, help with technical challenges, and celebrate video releases together.

Collaboration Mode

You will work in pairs with a journalist or editorial lead for each project. They will provide the video plan, raw footage, and guidelines. You will be the final director, with the team available for feedback and validation at each stage.

Mission Location: 100% Freedom

This mission is entirely remote. We use simple collaborative tools like Drive, Slack, or Discord for file sharing and creative feedback.

Time and Rhythm: You're in Control

Enjoy total flexibility with no set hours. Edit when you can (evenings, weekends, or days), as long as you meet agreed-upon deadlines. The frequency can range from one edit per week to one per month, adapting to your schedule.

Equipment

Volunteers must have their own computer and preferred editing software. We provide all graphic elements (logos, brand guidelines, licensed music) to assist you.

Support

Upon joining, you'll receive a briefing on L'Esprit Lycéen's graphic charter to ensure you feel comfortable. As a young team, mutual support is our priority!
