Overview
The Pain Medicine Advance Practice Clinician at Jefferson Health is a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant working in an ambulatory setting. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care in pain management across MHD and CC locations.
Responsibilities
Assessment & Management: Perform comprehensive history and physical assessments, order and collect diagnostic data, and respond promptly in acute situations.
Diagnosis: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to diagnose acute and chronic conditions, manage diagnostic tests, and formulate differential diagnoses.
Plan of Care: Develop individualized plans using evidence-based guidelines, implement therapeutic interventions, and adjust medications as needed.
Documentation: Accurately document patient progress and care details in compliance with standards, ensuring timely record maintenance.
Communication & Collaboration: Maintain ongoing communication with healthcare team members and patients, facilitating continuity of care across settings.
Professional Practice: Engage in preceptor/mentoring roles, continuous education, and active participation in specialty meetings, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualities Specific to Pain Management
Understand interventional procedures and indications, perform thorough musculoskeletal and neurological assessments, manage referrals, follow up on post-procedural outcomes, and adjust medications accordingly. Familiarity with advanced pain management techniques and regulatory compliance regarding controlled substances is required. Comfort with ultrasound is a plus.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree, National Board Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, BLS certification. Preferred three years of experience in pain medicine.
