VP Cloud Engineer Equities Technology
Jefferies is seeking an experienced senior-level DevOps / Platform Engineer to join their Equities Technology team. This role is critical in supporting a major initiative to migrate a legacy on-prem equities system to AWS. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building scalable, high-performance cloud infrastructure and deployment systems, with a passion for modern DevOps practices and familiarity with cloud, containers, and automation trends.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS, including compute, networking, IAM, and data services.
- Develop CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment workflows.
- Containerize applications and manage Kubernetes (EKS) clusters and Docker image pipelines.
- Implement ETL infrastructure and data movement workflows for cloud migration.
- Build foundational systems for future BI tooling on cloud-based databases.
- Implement and maintain observability tooling (monitoring, logging, alerting).
- Partner with Java development teams to enhance deployment performance and cloud readiness.
- Provide day-to-day support and troubleshooting of platform infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Skills And Experience Required
- 5+ years of DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE experience in high-intensity production environments.
- Strong expertise with AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Deep experience with Kubernetes (EKS) and Docker.
- Strong CI/CD pipeline experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, etc.).
- Experience building or supporting ETL pipelines, data orchestration, or cloud data movement workflows.
- Hands-on experience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch).
- Strong proficiency with automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Comfort working alongside teams developing in Java.
- Linux/Unix OS experience.
Strong Pluses
- Prior experience migrating on-prem systems to AWS.
- Experience supporting BI / analytics tooling or large-scale reporting platforms.
- Strong networking fundamentals and familiarity with messaging technologies (e.g., Kafka).
- Experience with in-memory datastores (Redis, Memcached).
- Financial services experience, particularly in equities, trading, or market data systems.
- Working experience on Snowflake Platform.
