Role Overview: Threat and Detections Researcher

This role focuses on discovering innovative methods to detect malicious activity in Jamf customer environments, specifically within the macOS platform. You will use existing technologies and in-house tooling to lead threat research and enhance behavioral-based detections.

Key Responsibilities

• Write and manage host-based macOS detections at the endpoint level.
• Analyze detection accuracy and tune performance based on outcomes.
• Research new detection methods using custom-built tooling.
• Manage malware signatures to identify known threats.
• Develop tools with Python or other scripting languages.

Required Qualifications

• Understanding of cybersecurity and intrusion detection.
• Comprehensive knowledge of incident response.
• Strong interest in macOS security.
• High School Diploma/GED (required) and/or Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Yara rules for malware detection.
• Proficiency in Bash, Python, Ruby, Objective-C, or Swift.
• Experience using Git and GitHub.
• Proven analytical skills and a solution-focused mindset.

Work Environment & Benefits

This role is offered as remote with specific requirements for candidates in Minneapolis, MN; Eau Claire, WI; and Austin, TX. Occasional in-person collaboration may be required for key events.
