Group Overview
The Visual Media Group (visualmedia.jacobs.com) is a multi-media development group within Jacobs (Jacobs.com). We provide a range of award-winning media services ranging from 3D visualization, virtual and augmented reality solutions, web applications, and videography solutions for both internal and external Jacobs’ clients. A candidate for this UX/UI Design Intern role would have exposure to the wider group and the variety of services we offer.
Position Summary
The UX/UI Design Intern will support the design team in creating intuitive, engaging, and user-centered digital experiences. This role offers hands-on exposure to the full design process, from research and wireframing to prototyping and usability testing. Interns will collaborate closely with designers, developers, and product managers to bring ideas to life and ensure that design solutions align with both user needs and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing user interfaces for web and mobile applications.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes using industry-standard tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch).
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and improve designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into effective design solutions.
- Support the development of design systems, style guides, and documentation.
- Stay updated on design trends, accessibility standards, and best practices.
Here's What You'll Need
- Currently pursuing a degree in graphic design, user experience design, interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field of study.
- Familiarity with design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch).
- Strong interest in user-centered design and problem-solving.
- Creative thinker with attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
- Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
- Familiarity with modern frontend tools and frameworks such as React, Tailwind, Shadcn.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with content management systems like WordPress, Elementor, etc.
Education Requirements
- Current university student in good standing (min. 3.0 GPA); pursuing a Bachelor’s, or master’s degree in graphic design, user experience design, interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or related field of study.
