About the role
Senior IT Project Manager Payments
Our client is looking for a Senior IT Payments Consultant / Project Manager with a strong technical and functional background in payments, who is eager to lead complex initiatives in an international and highly regulated banking environment. You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, architects, product owners, operations teams, and third-party vendors, ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams while delivering high-quality payment solutions and maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end delivery of payment-related projects, from requirements to production
- Manage scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies across multiple workstreams
- Gather and validate business requirements and design To-Be processes
- Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely delivery
- Oversee system integrations, testing phases (SIT/UAT), and production deployments
- Ensure stability of payment applications and provide BAU support
- Act as SME for troubleshooting, incident resolution, and root cause analysis
- Drive system improvements, automation, and modernization initiatives
- Support audit, compliance, and regulatory activities
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in IT Project Management or Consulting within payments
- Strong knowledge of payment systems, processes, and integrations
- Experience with ISO 20022 and SWIFT (MT & XML formats)
- Understanding of end-to-end payment flows (initiation to settlement)
- Experience with payment platforms and integration tools (e.g. MFT, APIs, messaging systems)
- Technical understanding of Java/.NET, scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and databases (SQL)
- Familiarity with cloud, infrastructure, and system integration concepts
- Experience in regulated financial environments and compliance requirements
- Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills
- Languages: Fluent English required, Spanish is a plus
