Automation Quality Engineering @ Ironclad
As an Automation Quality Engineering Intern at Ironclad, you’ll be writing e2e tests and building tooling and automations that tests our product and ensures quality. You'll learn what it's like to embed in a cross-functional team, collaborating with other roles to ensure we're testing the most vital functions in our app, and gaining insights on what it's like to deliver software.
You’ll help test software built on a modern stack that includes technologies like TypeScript, React, Node.js, Java, and Docker containers in Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform (experience with these specific technologies is a plus, but not required). We work in a highly collaborative environment and strive to foster a positive, inclusive culture where interns ship real product and get meaningful mentorship, not busy work.
What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and ship automated tests as part of a cross‑functional product team (engineering, product, design, QE).
- Collaborate with mentors and teammates to break down ambiguous problems into clear, scoped projects you can execute on during the internship.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code in Typescript , and participate in code reviews where you both give and receive feedback.
- Learn how to scale and maintain a reliable test suite that enables developers to deliver with quality and velocity.
- Build tooling and expanding automation frameworks to enable efficiencies in product teams and making automated tests as self-serve as possible.
- Partner with product and design to understand user needs, test hypotheses, and iterate quickly on solutions that create real value for legal, sales, and operations teams.
- Contribute to team culture, documentation, and best practices so future interns and engineers can build on what you’ve shipped.
Who You Are
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, with an expected graduation date after the internship term.
- Curious about software quality, test automation, and reliability, and interested in how automation helps teams ship with confidence.
- Have foundational knowledge in computer science and software engineering, including data structures, algorithms, and basic systems or web concepts (from coursework, projects, or prior experience).
- Comfortable programming in JavaScript/TypeScript and interested in learning our stack on the job.
- Demonstrated experience through projects, internships, hackathons, or open‑source contributions where you shipped something real and iterated based on feedback.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a bias toward action — you break down ambiguous problems, ask thoughtful questions, and move ideas forward collaboratively.
- Clear, kind communicator who enjoys working in cross‑functional teams and can explain technical concepts to non‑technical partners when needed.
- Excited to learn about contracts, legal workflows, and AI‑powered productivity tools, even if you don’t have prior domain experience.
- Embody Ironclad’s values of drive, intent, integrity, and empathy in how you work and collaborate.
