The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is committed to strengthening transparency, accountability, and staff engagement through effective internal communication within the Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC). With more than 600 staff members, the GSSC requires consistent, timely, and accessible internal communication within units. The National Internal Communications Officer will be responsible for coordinating and implementing specific internal communications activities, and serving as a point of contact for GSSC. The successful candidate will be under the administrative and functional supervision of the Director, Global Shared Services.
Responsibilities
- Contribute technical inputs for the elaboration of GSSC's internal communication strategy, in alignment with the Organization's mission, values, and strategic objectives.
- Compile, review, and perform preliminary editing of internal communications content for the GSSC’s intranet, emails to all GSSC staff, newsletters, and GSSC leadership updates using tiered content & templates.
- Draft plain-language summaries, FAQs, and quick-reference materials from complex operational updates and sensitive content. Including the facilitation of inclusivity and accessibility of staff communications (e.g., disability inclusion, translation request, captioning).
- Coordinate the production of materials for the Leadership Team, and provide guidance on clear and consistent tone messaging.
- Act as an internal communications focal point in GSSC, liaising closely with HQ. to help develop creative content that supports the internal communications strategy.
- Serve as the first point of contact for staff inquiries about internal communications tools, platforms, and protocols.
- Facilitate two-way communication between staff and GSSC leadership via channels such as pulse polls, staff input mechanisms, sentiment clustering, you said/we did follow-ups, etc.
- Provide specific training sessions to staff on effective internal communications practices, including the use of accessible digital tools and platforms.
- Update internal communications channels, including the GSSC intranet, newsletters, mailing list, and other collaboration platforms, in a timely manner.
- Make technical recommendations to support ongoing improvements to GSSC internal communications platforms.
- Troubleshoot technical/content issues, escalating to IT or external vendors as needed.
- Organize and coordinate logistics for GSSC staff engagement activities and internal communications events in Manila, including town hall meetings, staff briefings, feedback sessions and campaign rollouts.
- Monitor internal engagement via a monthly internal communications scorecard.
- Collect and synthesize staff feedback on communications effectiveness for reporting to the Director, Global Shared Services Centre.
- Suggest improvements based on data and user feedback.
- Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
- Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a a related field from an accredited academic institution; or
- Bachelor's degree in the above fields with two (2) years of relevant working experience.
Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database .
Experience
- Experience drafting content for internal audiences in large organizations; and
- Experience working in an international or multicultural environment is desirable.
Skills
- Exposure to intranet or digital content management systems (e.g., SharePoint, Drupal)
- Familiarity with event organization, newsletter production, or digital employee engagement tools.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to clarity, tone, and copy editing.
- Ability to manage multiple task under tight deadlines.
- Good intrapersonal skills and ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders; and,
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, intranet platforms, and digital communications tools
