This role works cross-collaboratively within the organization to drive alignment on research priorities (e.g. evidence strategy), expand the understanding of scientific literature (“evidence communication”), and to help align external customers with appropriate internal research opportunities. This role mainly works directly under the Medical Officer in EU and provides support in project management tasks for Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagements and other initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert on Intuitive technologies and their application in multiple clinical specialties, coordinating clinical research projects and initiatives and working cross-functionally with involved stakeholders.
  • Engage and establish professional scientific relationships with surgeons, administrators, payers, policymakers, healthcare institutions, researchers, and societies to be a credible partner in scientific exchange and facilitate clinical publication and evidence generation supported by Intuitive technologies.
  • Serve as a scientific expert within the organization to support internal colleagues through evaluating and consulting on scientific literature and related educational materials and triaging customer inquiries related to research in tight collaboration with Clinical Affairs.
  • Support clinical evidence strategy across all Intuitive technologies and EU regions by working closely with Intuitive Clinical Affairs, Global Access Value & Economics (GAVE), Medical Affairs, Digital, Clinical Strategy, and Engineering teams in a cross-functional manner regarding clinical research.
  • Support evidence and value communication strategy internally and externally in alignment with EU Marketing and EU Public Affairs and other departments.
  • Provide voice of customer feedback from the field to help inform business decisions and research strategy by building strong relationships with KOLs of relevant specialties (e.g. Round Tables, advisory board etc.).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • A minimum of a MS, PhD or MD and/or equivalent work experience within healthcare is expected. Any business degree e.g. MBA or comparable is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in a comparable role in Medtech/Pharma context is preferred.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal in English, proficiency in another major European language.
  • Collaborative working style and demonstration of excellent presentation skills across a diverse audience of clinical and technical experts.
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships with surgeon KOLs, administrators, payers, policymakers, and surgical society leadership preferably in Spain and/or France and/or Italy.
  • Ability to travel within EU and US (up to 50%).

US Export Control Disclaimer: In accordance with the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (15 CFR 743.13(b)), some positions at Intuitive Surgical may be subject to U.S. export controls for potential employees who are nationals of countries currently under embargo or sanction. Certain information you provide as part of the application will be used to determine whether Intuitive Surgical (i) needs to obtain an export license on your behalf from the U.S. government (Note: government licensing can take 3 to 6+ months) or (ii) needs to implement a technology control plan (“TCP”) (Note: typically extends the hiring process by 2 weeks). For any intuitive role subject to export controls, final offers depend on receipt of an approved export license and/or an executed TCP prior to the potential employee's start date, which may or may not be flexible, and within a timeframe that does not unduly hinder hiring needs. Where applicable, candidates will be informed of and instructed on these requirements.
