Location & Workplace Flexibility
The role offers a flexible work environment with options to work remotely, at home, or in one of our hubs (SF Bay Area, NYC Metro, Denver, Houston, Calgary, Toronto). Candidates must be located within 60 miles of one of these hubs to foster in-person connections.
Role Overview
As part of the Microgrid Engineering team, you will define and implement validation frameworks that ensure microgrid control software performs reliably and safely before field deployment. You will build simulation environments and hardware-in-the-loop testing setups to validate real-world operating conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and Maintain Validation Frameworks: Develop simulation frameworks and validation tools, design SIL/HIL testing setups, and define testing requirements.
- Automate Testing and Reporting: Create reproducible validation workflows, automate test execution, and design performance metrics.
- Define Test Cases: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to define test cases and performance criteria.
- Integrate Field Learnings: Analyze field data and refine validation models to improve test coverage.
- Maintain Validation Assets: Ensure clear traceability, version control, and organization of all validation assets.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Software, or Computer Engineering or related field.
- 3–7+ years’ experience in real-time system validation or embedded software testing.
- Proficiency in automated test pipeline design and simulation tools like Simulink or Modelica.
- Experience with industrial control languages such as C++, Structured Text, or similar.
- Knowledge of utility grid interconnection requirements, particularly in ERCOT.
- Collaborative work style and strong attention to safety and system reliability.
