Location & Team Gatherings
Intersect has operated as a fully flexible workplace since its inception in 2016, embracing work-from-home, hybrid, and in-office models. The company prioritizes deepening social connections and shared experiences, organizing Team Week gatherings four times a year and utilizing established Hub locations in the SF Bay Area, NYC Metro Area (NY), Denver (CO), Houston (TX), Calgary (AB), and Toronto (ON). Candidates are sought within 60 miles of any listed hub to promote in-person connections while supporting a flexible remote culture.
About the IT System Administration Role
As an IT System Administrator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of Intersect by managing day-to-day IT systems and providing reliable, high-quality support to employees. This role involves managing core systems, maintaining secure and stable environments, and serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues, thereby empowering teammates with essential tools and access. It combines hands-on technical execution with thoughtful user support, allowing you to work independently on routine administration while collaborating on process improvements, security enhancements, and scalable IT practices.

The Technology group plays a pivotal role in advancing Intersect’s mission by providing secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions. This team collaborates closely with various business units to ensure that systems, tools, and support services facilitate collaboration, protect company data, and support organizational growth. Joining this team offers extensive exposure to modern IT operations, opportunities for system and process enhancement, and a significant impact across the entire organization.
What You’ll Do
- Administer Core Systems & Infrastructure: Manage and maintain Windows and macOS systems, user accounts, permissions, and group policies (e.g., Google Workspace). Perform regular system updates, patching, backups, and monitoring to ensure stable environments.
- Deliver User Support & Help Desk Excellence: Resolve escalated support tickets and provide technical escalation support. Assist with employee onboarding/offboarding, device provisioning, access management, and basic training. Document issues, resolutions, and standard support procedures.
- Manage Software & IT Assets: Install, configure, update, and maintain operating systems and business applications. Oversee software licenses, subscriptions, compliance, SaaS platforms, internal tools, IT asset inventory, and device lifecycle.
- Strengthen Security & System Reliability: Implement IT security best practices, including endpoint protection, access controls, and account hygiene. Support backup strategies, disaster recovery planning, and incident response. Identify security risks and recommend scalable improvements.
- Improve Processes & Documentation: Create and maintain standard operating procedures and internal documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and overall system reliability. Provide guidance and training on IT tools.
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in IT support and system administration.
- Proven experience supporting end users in a business or corporate setting.
- Proficiency with Windows and/or macOS operating systems.
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, VPNs).
- Experience with software deployment, patching, and license management.
- Familiarity with cloud-based productivity platforms like Google Workspace.
- Experience using ticketing systems and remote support tools; Jira familiarity is a plus.
- Exposure to basic scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, or Apps Script) is beneficial.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to documentation.
- Clear communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote work environment.
