All relevant information about INTERPOL's Internship Programme can be found on their official website. INTERPOL encourages applications from women and nationals of currently underrepresented member countries.

About the Innovation Centre (IC)

The INTERPOL Innovation Centre (IC) supports law enforcement agencies in understanding and adapting to the rapid evolution of policing. The IC facilitates crucial knowledge exchange on how both enduring and emerging technologies impact law enforcement. By connecting experts from various fields, including law enforcement, academia, and the private sector, the IC builds a robust knowledge community dedicated to tackling technology-enabled threats and crimes.

Working collaboratively with other INTERPOL units and external partners, the Innovation Centre employs a flexible project team approach to research, develop, and implement dynamic and innovative solutions for policing issues. The IC’s key outputs include:

  • Knowledge exchange: Gathering, analyzing, and disseminating information on the potential implications of emerging technologies for law enforcement. This includes identifying use-cases and best practices to assist law enforcement in addressing technology-enabled threats and crimes.
  • Policy: Developing, evaluating, and advocating for interventions at the policy level to enhance law enforcement processes and value chains, and facilitating the creation of internationally endorsed policing standards and norms.
  • New Technologies: Fostering a coordinated approach for INTERPOL, member countries, and non-governmental partners to stay connected with the latest technological advancements such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), synthetic media, digital forensics, drones, 3D printing and scanning, immersive technologies (e.g., virtual reality/augmented reality), blockchain, and virtual assets. This involves understanding both the threats and opportunities these technologies present for improving policing efforts.
  • Digital Forensics: Acquiring state-of-the-art digital forensics capabilities to lead in understanding and addressing operational demands arising from the widespread use of new technologies, and developing a pool of experts to provide technical assistance and training to requesting INTERPOL member countries.
