Position Summary

As Intercept continues to build its position as the leader in rare and serious liver disease, we are seeking an Academic Territory Business Manager. The Academic Territory Business Manager (ATBM) is responsible for achieving sales and business objectives with Intercept’s top customers within teaching hospitals and academic centers. This role involves supporting and growing relationships with assigned institutions and key customers, developing and executing territory strategy, and collaborating with the commercial team to drive product priorities within the account. The position reports into the local Regional Business Director (RBD).

Geographical Focus: Primarily greater Dallas, TX with secondary coverage in greater Houston, TX.

Job Responsibilities

  • Increase sales of Intercept products (Ocaliva) in targeted accounts.
  • Navigate complex teaching hospitals and academic center environments.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Intercept’s product, patient access, and market strategies.
  • Develop and execute territory plans and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Support key opinion leaders and execute company-sponsored speaker programs.
  • Communicate frequently with national peers and strategic partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required with minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical sales experience.
  • Proven track record in institutional sales and specialty product sales.
  • Advanced proficiency with Sales Force CRM, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
  • Valid driver's license; operation of a company vehicle required.

Required Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to travel up to 50%-70% including overnight and weekend travel.
  • Strong business acumen with ability to analyze data for strategic decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of market access, payer, and specialty pharmacy landscapes.
  • Ability to navigate academic medical systems and compliance requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated salary range: $170,000 - $190,000.
