About This Position
The Inter-American Development Bank Group seeks an active graduate student for a two-month paid internship as an Intern Consultant, based at Headquarters in Washington, D.C. This competitive program offers university students from member countries the opportunity to learn about development work and corporate management while gaining professional experience through on-the-job learning.
What you’ll do
- Participate in exploration and application of generative AI technologies, including coding, working with AI platforms, and integrating AI solutions into projects.
- Attend workshops and webinars, sharing insights with the team to foster innovation and knowledge sharing.
- Work with databases to analyze structured data and develop visualizations for data analysis and trend identification.
- Deliver a final presentation summarizing completed projects to internal office staff.
What you'll need
Education: Active graduate student in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited university. Graduation date must be after the internship period.
Technical skills: Expertise in natural language processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML), Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), SQL, Python, and data visualization with PowerBI.
Languages: Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Spanish, French, or Portuguese is a plus.
Requirements
- Citizenship: Must be a national of an IDB member country.
- Active Student: Enrolled in a graduate (master’s or Ph.D.) program as of the internship start date, with a graduation date after the internship period.
- Consanguinity: No immediate family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at IDB or IDB Invest.
- First Job at IDB Group: Must be a first-time participant in an internship program, and not a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (CW), contractor, or service provider to the Bank or Corporation.
- Availability: Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) from June 16 to August 15, 2026. These dates are fixed.

Unofficial transcripts are accepted initially, but official ones will be required if you advance. Academic documents must be issued within the last three months. Graduate students must have completed a minimum of 50% of coursework when applying. Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Save each file in PDF format with your name and subject. Do not send copies of degree certificates or other courses. For international students in the U.S.A., work authorization through CPT or OPT is required; consult your school advisor regarding the 40-hour per week requirement.
