About This Position: AI/Data Engineering Data Driven Communications Intern

The IDB Group is looking for an active undergraduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality. This is a 2-month paid internship located at our Headquarters in Washington D.C., with visa sponsorship available. The 2026 Summer Internship Program is a competitive opportunity for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire professional work experience through on-the-job learning.

You’ll be part of a dynamic team in the Communications Division (DCC) within the External Affairs and Communications Department, leveraging advanced analytics and AI to shape how the Inter-American Development Bank communicates with stakeholders across Latin America and the Caribbean.

What You’ll Do

  • Automate core reporting processes for daily and weekly communications analytics.
  • Develop and optimize scripts for recurring performance reports.
  • Enhance monitoring pipelines for crisis communication and campaign performance.
  • Support creation of Copilot agents for trend summarization, anomaly detection, and campaign insights.
  • Collaborate with the DCC team to integrate AI-enabled workflows and improve data-driven decision-making.

What You'll Need

Education

An active undergraduate student in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Evidence-based Communications, or a related field from an accredited University. Your graduation date should be after the Internship period.

Languages

Fluency in English with a working knowledge of one other Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.

Key Skills

Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things.

Technical Skills

Experience in Python, Power BI, SQL, APIs, Power Automate; demonstrated interest in AI/LLM tools and analytics automation; strong documentation and problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries.
  • Active Student: Enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) or graduate (master’s or Ph.D.) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Consanguinity: Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the Inter-American Development Bank or IDB Invest.
  • First Job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation. In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce, contractor, or previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through any contractual modality.

Notes for Applicants

Submit your resume, academic transcripts (official or unofficial), and a university letter certifying your student status when applying. If you submit an unofficial academic transcript, an official one will be requested if you move forward. Academic transcripts and university letters should be issued within the last three months. For undergraduate students, the second year of school must be completed when applying. Applications without the requested documentation will be disqualified. Save each file in a PDF format with your name and subject. Do not send copies of your degree certificates or other courses. You must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) from June 16 to August 15, 2026. These dates are fixed and cannot be modified. Interns must complete their assignments within this period. If you are an international student in the U.S.A., your work authorization is through CPT or OPT. Consult your school advisor before applying, as many international students are limited to part-time work depending on academic standing.
