About the Role
As the In-House Legal Counsel II, you will join our growing team handling insurance defence files, preparing legal documents, and representing the company in trials and arbitrations. You will also conduct legal educational seminars and use AI tools under established ethical guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle insurance defence files independently from start to finish.
- Prepare and conduct legal procedures including applications, motions, mediation, arbitration, and trials.
- Draft opinions, pleadings, affidavits, and other legal documents.
- Present legal educational seminars and maintain communications with the claims department.
- Utilize AI tools while adhering to ethical governance.
Qualifications
- LLB or JD required; member of the Alberta Law Society.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of insurance litigation experience.
- Experience in construction, commercial general liability, specialty lines, auto/transportation, and more is an asset.
- Strong drafting, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with legal tech tools such as iManage, Citrix, ACL, Nuance, Generative AI, and Microsoft Office.
