About the Role
Intact is seeking a Forensic Engineer Fire and Explosion for the Claims Department to support our growth by investigating, analyzing and reporting on fire and explosion incidents. You will be instrumental in understanding the cause of losses, recreating event sequences and providing expert testimony in court when required.
Responsibilities
- Investigate loss sites related to fires, explosions, and other hazards.
- Collaborate with internal and external adjusters, file handlers, and building appraisers.
- Document scenes and produce both abridged and detailed reports.
- Apply scientific methods to validate hypotheses surrounding losses.
- Testify in court and provide expert opinions in dispute resolution.
- Record and manage specimens related to investigations.
Requirements
A minimum of five years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering or related applied sciences is required. A bachelor’s degree is a must along with licensure or eligibility for licensure through a provincial Engineering Association.
Desired Skills and Certification
Excellent oral and written communication skills, report writing finesse, and prior court testimony experience are highly valued. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain certifications such as CFI, CFEI, CFVI or WETT.
