CALIMA Safety GmbH is seeking a DevOps / Platform Engineer to join their small, ambitious team in Berlin. This role offers significant ownership and the opportunity to make a direct impact on a security-relevant B2B SaaS product.
Responsibilities
As a DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:
- Infrastructure & Platform: Further development of our Kubernetes infrastructure (OVH & Hetzner Multi-Cloud, Multi-Region, Zero Downtime Deployments), maintenance and expansion of our infrastructure-as-code landscape (Terraform / OpenTofu, Private Networks, Databases, Storage, Security, Monitoring, etc.), and support for dedicated hosting setups for enterprise clients.
- Reliability & Observability: Building and continuously improving logs, metrics, traces, ensuring the stability, performance, and availability of our systems, and advancing deployment and release processes (Zero Downtime).
- Security & Compliance: Implementing security best practices (IAM, Secrets, Hardening, Encryption, Backups) and supporting compliance requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Incident Management: Participating in an on-call rotation, building and improving alerting, incident, and disaster recovery processes, and creating runbooks and postmortems.
Requirements
- Native-level German language skills are required.
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps/Platform Engineer in a cloud/SaaS environment.
- Broad responsibility experience, ideally in startups or small teams with end-to-end ownership.
- Strong knowledge of Kubernetes (Deployment, Networking, Ingress, Observability, Scaling) and modern EU cloud infrastructure (OVH, Hetzner).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/OpenTofu), including module structuring, state, secrets, and environments.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Loki).
- Understanding of cloud security topics: networks, secret management, encryption, secure configurations.
- Experience with high-availability, business-critical systems, preferably in B2B SaaS or security-relevant contexts.
- Structured, self-organized, quality-conscious work style with a pragmatic approach to priorities.
- Good English language skills.
