Overview
At Instacart, data is the compass that guides our mission to transform grocery shopping. As a Sr. Data Analyst on the Fraud & Identity team, you will turn complex payments and fraud data into insights that protect our customers, shoppers, and retailers while driving sustainable growth.
About the Role
You will be the analytical heartbeat of our Payments & Fraud ecosystem by:
- Owning end-to-end analysis and visualization of key KPIs.
- Building and maintaining robust SSOT data models in Snowflake/DBT.
- Translating insights into strategic narratives for cross-functional teams.
- Designing and evaluating A/B tests and surface actionable recommendations.
- Partnering with engineers to instrument new payment features and automate reporting.
About the Team
The Fraud & Identity Operations team is composed of strategists, analysts, and operators focused on safeguarding trust across every transaction. You will report to the Manager, Decision Science—Fraud & Identity Analytics and collaborate daily with team members dedicated to data excellence.
About You
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6–8 years’ analytics experience in payments, fraud, identity, or related domains.
- Expert-level SQL skills and advanced Excel/Google Sheets modeling.
- Deep understanding of payment systems and reconciliation processes.
- Proven ability to diagnose metrics changes and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills for varied audiences.
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with anti-fraud tooling, payment authentication or chargeback mitigation.
- Proficiency with BI/visualization platforms like Mode, Tableau, or Looker.
- Background in experimentation and advanced quantitative methods.
- ETL/data-pipeline development skills and familiarity with DBT.
- Experience with marketplace, e-commerce, or CNP payments at scale.
Work Arrangement & Compensation
This role is remote, following Instacart's Flex First policy. Please note that hiring is currently limited to candidates in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. For Canadian based candidates, the base pay ranges from $133,000 to $148,000 CAD, with eligibility for equity and annual refresh grants.
