Departmental Overview
The UC Berkeley Library's Acquisition Department manages the full lifecycle of library materials acquisitions for various campus libraries, excluding a few specialized libraries.
Position Summary
This pivotal role as Resource Acquisitions Lead drives the efficient acquisition of scholarly resources. You will manage one-time purchases from order placement, invoicing, to material receipt using systems like Alma, and provide critical technical troubleshooting and operational analysis.
Responsibilities
- Technical Operations: Manage ordering processes, handling different formats and vendor systems, including FTP data processing.
- Leadership: Guide career staff and student employees, train on acquisitions functions, and supervise daily tasks.
- Process Improvement: Analyze workflows, plan projects and implement enhancements in acquisition procedures.
- Communication & Documentation: Collaborate with librarians and staff to document and update acquisition procedures.
Required Qualifications
Experience in research library acquisitions; familiarity with MARC records, OCLC, Alma, and vendor systems; excellent problem-solving and communication skills; proficiency in MS Office, Windows, FTP, and Google office apps; and an associate's degree or equivalent training are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with monograph and serial ordering, familiarity with integrated library systems, online vendor ordering systems, and knowledge of non-Roman languages add value.
Salary & Benefits
This is an exempt monthly-paid position with an estimated annual salary range between $75,648.50 and $86,898.31, alongside comprehensive University benefits.
