Job Summary

The Kim Lab for Innovation in Image-Guided Interventions at the University of Pennsylvania seeks a Research Specialist D to provide specialized veterinary clinical care in support of preclinical research involving both large (sheep, swine) and small (rabbits, rats, mice) animal models. This position plays a vital role in facilitating advanced image-guided procedures within a translational research environment.

Under minimal supervision, the Research Specialist will assess and triage animal health, provide emergency and routine care, administer medications via multiple routes, and maintain comprehensive health and treatment records. Experience with image-guided interventions is preferred; however, a strong interest and willingness to learn these techniques is essential.

Additional responsibilities include performing wellness checks, maintaining equipment and inventory, collecting diagnostic specimens, and ensuring compliance with IACUC protocols. The technician will collaborate closely with veterinary and research staff to ensure humane, high-quality animal care that supports scientific objectives.

This is a full-time position requiring some flexibility in scheduling and participation in rotating weekend and holiday coverage. The role is focused exclusively on veterinary clinical and procedural support for preclinical imaging and interventional studies.
