Grants Accounting Analyst
Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and capable Grants Accounting Analyst to join our team. This full-time, 12-month grant-funded, non-teaching professional position is located in Troy, New York. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Grants & Contracts Administration and play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of restricted accounts, federal and state contracts, and grants.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize Ellucian Banner database for accounting, fiscal reporting, and billing for all restricted accounts.
- Analyze restricted accounts within the General Ledger according to documented procedures.
- Set up budgets in the General Ledger and track restricted accounts to prevent budget overruns.
- Support the review and approval of restricted account and grant-related purchase orders and payroll authorizations.
- Maintain restricted account and grants receivables, run aging reports, and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Review budget information in grant proposals and assist project directors with fiscal grant-related questions.
- Calculate and record grant-related fringe benefits.
- Prepare restricted and grant schedules for the annual financial audit and collaborate with auditors.
- Draft quarterly and final federal financial reports according to grant requirements.
- Collaborate on the evaluation and implementation of new financial or operational tools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field with 4 years of related experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of relevant experience.
- Prior experience with grants and contracts and/or higher education is preferred.
- General knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices.
- Ability to make independent judgments and act on decisions daily.
- Ability to work with flexibility on multiple tasks simultaneously and meet concurrent deadlines.
- Strong mathematical and Excel skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service, teamwork, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
