Field Service Technician - Commissioning - Jenbacher Team

Job Overview

This Field Service Technician – Commissioning will perform electrical and some mechanical field service work on Jenbacher Gas Engines, including but not limited to commissioning, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance, and minor overhaul. Jenbacher Gas Engines range in power from 0.25 to 9.5 MW, and run on either natural gas or a variety of other gases (e.g., biogas, landfill gas, coal mine gas, sewage gas, combustible industrial waste gases).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Execute service hands-on activities in compliance with the maintenance protocol of the engine, for example: maintenance activities such as replace filters and other components, perform relevant mechanical and electrical inspections, measurements and other tasks.
  • Carry out minor repairs on the engine additionally to the planned service.
  • Perform troubleshooting activities with analytical mindset and proposing solutions aligned to Jenbacher.
  • Understand electrical/mechanical failures of the engine/alternator, as well as electronic failures associated to control systems.
  • Understanding and interpretation of historical data parameters of the engine.
  • Manage and work with third party suppliers when needed.
  • Work effectively with colleagues, subcontractors and customer personnel in a healthy environment, either as team-player or as leader upon each situation, with a team of technicians or independently.
  • Provide information about planned services and progress update of the maintenance.
  • Ownership of assigned sites and customers, proactively searching to maximize engine’s reliability.
  • Create a technical report specifying the reason for the visit, the actions performed and the results, describes the use of materials and if needed recommend follow-up actions.
  • Responsible to maintain basic set of tools in hand, critical spare parts for engines covered, vehicle condition and availability, ensure that they are approved, clean and stored properly.
  • Process timesheets, expense reports, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) forms and job reports in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive work site.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must have prior Field Technician experience such as automotive, power generation, heavy equipment or diesel engines.
  • Ability to crouch, twist, bend, kneel and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Good electrical knowledge /electrician skills, such as wiring panels and alternators.
  • Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, interphase and mechanical drawings.
  • Programmable logic controller (PLC) knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting skills with analytical mindset.
  • Legal permit to work in the United States.
  • Ability to travel inclusion of some overnight travel.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely, as required.
