The Role: Data Analyst, Product

At Kraken, data is a strategic asset and the cornerstone of trust with users, partners, and stakeholders. The data team is fundamental to decision-making. We are seeking a Data Analyst, Product to join our remote team. The primary objective of this role is to enhance decision-making by identifying emerging trends, uncovering root causes, and developing tools that provide clear insights and actions, ensuring full visibility into product performance and business growth.

Beyond technical expertise, success in this role requires being a genuine business partner. You will combine data-driven insights with strategic thinking to shape growth initiatives, guide decisions, and drive measurable organizational impact. You will own the end-to-end data management, from building and maintaining datasets and pipelines to designing dashboards and insights for the Product team. Additionally, you will contribute to experimentation infrastructure, including launching an A/B testing system and other experimental projects, ensuring the data team’s continuous evolution and growth. In this position, you will quantitatively define success daily for our Product and leadership teams. Join a team where data is our language, our tool, and our future.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted business advisor, influencing decision-making for the growth team and deeply understanding the business.
• Own the design of dashboards, metrics, and reports, translating data into actionable insights for growth, cross-functional partners, and leadership.
• Dive into large, complex datasets/logs to develop scalable data models that facilitate reporting, analytics, and ML models.
• Lead cross-functional projects with analysts, scientists, engineers, and product teams to build data pipelines using Airflow, Python, and modern ETL frameworks.
• Be at the forefront of data innovation by experimenting, testing hypotheses, and converting insights into action.
• Develop and automate reporting of key performance indicators for various Kraken products at scale.
• Develop high-quality code for pipelines and dashboards, applying software engineering best practices.
• Deliver insights that shape growth direction through clear, data-driven storytelling.

Skills You Should HODL (Required Qualifications)

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis and data management within the financial services industry, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Hands-on experience trading derivatives (e.g., perpetuals, futures, or similar instruments), gained professionally or through personal trading.
• Experience collaborating closely with product teams to analyze and optimize performance across the product funnel and related business metrics, ideally within a trading environment.
• Expert SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, and analytical functions, coupled with familiarity in Python libraries such as pandas, matplotlib, and plotly.
• Hands-on experience using dbt (data build tool) to model and organize marketing, product, or performance data for reporting and decision-making.
• Experience setting up and managing data pipelines, with a strong understanding of data workflow orchestration.
• Capability to create intuitive dashboards and visualizations to communicate complex insights clearly.
• Strong communication skills to simplify complex data ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong belief in Kraken’s Tentaclements document values.
• A degree in a field emphasizing analytical rigor, such as software engineering, economics, or a hard science.
