The Team
At Kraken, data is a strategic asset and the backbone of decision-making, fostering trust with our users, partners, and stakeholders. We are seeking a Data Analyst, Product to join our remote team.
The primary goal of this role is to elevate decision-making by uncovering emerging trends and root causes, and by developing tools that drive insights and actions. This will provide full visibility into product performance and business growth. Success in this position requires not only technical expertise but also being a true business partner who combines data-driven insights with strategic thinking to shape growth initiatives and drive measurable impact across the organization.
You will own the end-to-end data management lifecycle, from building and maintaining datasets and pipelines to designing dashboards and delivering insights for the Product team. Additionally, you'll contribute to our experimentation infrastructure, launching A/B testing systems and evolving the data team's capabilities. You will quantitatively define success for our Product and leadership teams daily, making data our language, tool, and future.
The Opportunity
- Act as a trusted business advisor, deeply understanding the business to influence decision-making for the growth team.
- Own the design of dashboards, metrics, and reports, translating complex data into actionable insights for growth, cross-functional partners, and leadership.
- Dive into large, complex datasets and logs to create scalable data models essential for reporting, analytics, and machine learning.
- Lead cross-functional projects with analysts, scientists, engineers, and product teams to build robust data pipelines using Airflow, Python, and modern ETL frameworks.
- Be at the forefront of data innovation, experimenting, testing hypotheses, and translating findings into concrete actions.
- Develop and automate reporting for key performance indicators across various Kraken products at scale.
- Produce high-quality code for pipelines and dashboards, adhering to software engineering best practices.
- Deliver compelling, data-driven stories that shape the direction of growth initiatives.
Skills You Should HODL
- 5+ years of experience in data analysis and data management within the financial services industry, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
- Hands-on experience trading derivatives (perpetuals, futures, or similar instruments), gained professionally or personally, is required.
- Proven experience collaborating closely with product teams to analyze and optimize performance across the product funnel and related business metrics, preferably in a trading context.
- Expert SQL skills, including complex joins, CTEs, and analytical functions, coupled with familiarity in Python libraries such as pandas, matplotlib, and plotly.
- Hands-on experience using dbt (data build tool) for modeling and organizing marketing, product, or performance data.
- Experience setting up and managing data pipelines, with a strong understanding of data workflow orchestration.
- Ability to create intuitive dashboards and visualizations to clearly communicate complex insights.
- Strong communication skills, capable of simplifying complex data concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A deep belief in the values outlined in Kraken’s Tentaclements document.
- A degree in a field emphasizing analytical rigor, such as software engineering, economics, or a hard science.
