The Engineering Manager Role
We are seeking a strong Engineering Manager to lead our Ecosystem Team in India. This team is crucial to Imply Lumi, owning all aspects of query execution, including planning, optimization, functions, and distributed execution. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead and grow a team of backend engineers focused on building high-performance systems. You will drive technical execution, uphold high engineering standards, and collaborate closely with Product and global engineering leaders to define and deliver the product roadmap.
This position is ideal for a hands-on leader deeply passionate about distributed systems and database internals, eager to build and scale a world-class engineering team in India.
Key Responsibilities
- Hire top engineering talent in India.
- Foster team member growth through active feedback and coaching.
- Collaborate with product management and engineering leadership to build the team's roadmap.
- Own execution and delivery for the team, including roadmaps, timelines, and quality.
- Build a strong engineering culture of ownership, excellence, and accountability.
- Participate in code and design reviews when necessary.
- Support field engineering in assisting our customers.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of engineering experience and 2 years of engineering management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional work experience).
- Experience working on the internals of large-scale distributed systems and databases.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly.

- A history of open-source contributions is a plus.
- Being a committer on a data-related project is a significant advantage.
